CASABLANCA, Dec. 18 2019 (MIE GRUPS) -- A delegation from Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province, China, organised a series of seminars and business-matchmaking sessions, on Dec. 17 at the 3rd edition of China Trade Week (CTW) Morocco (16-18 December in Casablanca, Morocco's biggest city) which hosted for the first time the co-located African Technology Show (AFTS).

Fuzhou, nicknamed Rongcheng or called "Rong", is the capital of China’s coastal Fujian Province, located at the Min River.

Founded in 202 BC, Fuzhou is the political, economic, cultural and scientific research center of Fujian. The metropolis functions as the modern financial service sector in the economic zone on the west side of the strait. It is also one of the top 14 coastal port cities open to the outside, the gateway to the Silk Sea Route and also one of the three pilot free trade areas of Fujian in China. According to statistics, Fuzhou achieved regional GDP of 710.42 billion yuan in 2017, an increase of 8.7% over the previous year. Among them, the primary industry added value was 51.95 billion yuan, an increase of 3.7%; the secondary industry added value was 296.29 billion yuan, an increase of 6.9%; and the added value of the tertiary industry was 362.16 billion yuan, an increase of 11.0%.

The "Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)" is a civilized road that combines matter and spirit. It is an organic integration between the material civilization of the "economic belt" and the spiritual civilization of the ancient "Silk Road", which establishes regional economic cooperation on the basis of abundant humanity. In an environment where each region fully explores their own comparative advantages and actively integrates into the construction of “Belt and Road”, Fuzhou also actively explores its comparative and unique advantages. As Morocco's third largest trading partner, China's bilateral trade volume in 2017 was 3.83 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 5.3% year-over-year. China's investments in Morocco are increasing sharply.

From December 16 to 18, 2019, the third edition of the Morocco-China trade exhibition was held in Casablanca. During the exhibition period, the Fuzhou Trade Office launched the "Fuzhou Brand Abroad - Morocco Station" event during the exhibition.
